AI Feature Disclosure

MacroIndex includes optional AI-powered features that can help look up nutrition information and interpret spoken commands.

What happens when you use AI

• The text you submit — a typed request or a voice transcript — is first screened by an automated content-safety service.
• If it passes screening, it is sent to an AI service provider (currently OpenAI) to generate a response.
• Requests include a one-way hashed identifier derived from your account so that misuse can be attributed to an individual account. It does not contain your email address.
• The response may include nutrition values, serving assumptions, source links, and confidence labels.
• We record the outcome of each request (status, model, timing, size, token counts) but not the content of your request or the response.
• The normalized text of a nutrition query may be cached with its result so identical lookups do not need to be repeated. Please do not include personal or sensitive information in AI requests.

Important limitations

• AI can be wrong. Nutrition information may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect.
• Confidence and "verified" labels are best-effort indicators, not guarantees.
• Always verify values against product labels and official nutrition sources before relying on them.

Scope and limits

• AI features are for nutrition and food logging only; other requests will be refused.
• AI lookups and label scans have a daily allowance that depends on your plan, because they use paid third-party services.

Your control

• AI is optional. You can log foods manually and never use it.
• You can export or delete all of your data at any time from your Profile page.
